Seasonal Shifts: Spring into Summer

I love a good seasonal change. It gives the vibes of a new beginning. Just when I am over the tendencies of the current season, I find myself getting thrusted into a new one. Living in Florida, spring fades very rapidly into summer. The feeling of ocean-soaked hair, salty-tanned skin, and the blazing sunshine, all get me giddy with the anticipation. As the days get longer, my energy increases. I'm like a little, happy snake soaking up any rays of sun racing my way.

To me, spring feels like a season of introspection, self-care, and fertility. BUT summer, oh summer, this is where the magic happens. Summer is made for late nights sitting on the floor with friends, taking the next plane to ANYWHERE, plunging into the deepest, shimmering pools of water. It's ice cream, adventure, and friendship all shoved into 3 months.
Lush greens and bright hues of yellow and orange scream summer. It's time for bowls of fresh, colorful fruits and veggies. Hot girl walks and dances around bonfires. Since I'm so obviously romanticizing summer right now, as seen by my ode to the sunshine season, here is the summer day I am dreaming about.
Slow mornings are my favorite and that is no different in summer. Waking up to just lay between my comfy sheets for a few minutes knowing you have nowhere you need to be is one of life's greatest luxuries. When it so compels me, I can mosy out of bed to meditate and journal. Starting the day right with some introspection and breathwork is like an automatic reset. I'd bring some lemon water to hydrate the real MVP in my life, my body.

After a spiritually slow morning, it's time for some breakfast. Warm, humid summer mornings call for something refreshing. My favorite is a smoothie bowl loaded with fruit. Make it colorful; eat the rainbow! With summer in full bloom, the farmer's market is bustling with gorgeous fruits to add. Grab some local honey to drizzle on top and granola for an added crunch. Ugh, I am drooling just thinking of this imaginary summer brekkie. Even better if you have time to go grab a matcha.

Our bodies are so hard-working, yet so unappreciated, so giving it some love will truly liven up my day. Some sort of movement, whether it be a hot girl walk (before it's too hot), a pilates workout, or yoga flow, would be perfect. I love getting some mindful, mental health-focused movement first thing.
Summer is made for cute outfits. Dresses, shorts, crop tops, skirts, sandals, the possibilities are endless. In the summer, it gives me an opportunity to wear things that truly make me feel empowered and beautiful. That can even just be just throwing on my bikini because every body is a summer body.
I need an adventure for the day and hopefully someone to do it with. As I said, summer is the time for friends. I may hide away in the winters, but summer is where I need to come out of my shell and socialize. Most likely, I will grab my bestie, Shannon, and we can go take some instagrammable pics at the beach or springs. Girls' days just make my heart sing. We could grab some lunch at one of our favorite spots or even better pack a picnic. We are such picnic girls, it isn't even funny. Or go swimming in the ocean. To me, swimming in the salty ocean is the baptism I need. Any negativity gets washed away in the waves.

Finally, ending the day with some Pinot Gris (sidenote: I am such a red girl, but have honestly been feeling major white wine vibes lately) and a summer read to top off the day. Or laying on the floor with your friends just laughing and discussing life. No relationships match the intensity of female friendships and that is something to celebrate every summer night.
Grab your swimsuits, eat some rich fruits, and drink lots of water because the season of salt, sunshine, and the sea is sneaking around the corner. I think we are all ready for it!
