Making your bed can transform your whole day for the better.

I am starting a series called "Sacred Rituals". These are rituals I do continuously to keep me sane and positive. I consider these "non-negotiables" in my life. I have collected many of these sacred rituals throughout the years to help me get out of "the funk". We all have been in "the funk", and I have met no one that finds it an enjoyable place to be. These rituals are things I actually do to help promote healthy mental and emotional states in my life. My first ritual is making my bed every day.
“MAKE YOUR BED EVERY DAMN DAY”
Ugh, you probably feel like I'm a nagging mom saying that, but your mom had something going when she was telling you to make your bed. Making your bed in the morning creates so much positivity first thing in the morning. It's the easiest way to start your day off right and it literally takes less than 5 minutes.
When you make your bed in the morning, you create a feeling of being productive right at the start of your day. Something as minuscule as making your bed is still an accomplishment. You can check 1 thing off your to do list, and we all know the endorphins we get from checking something off a list. Unless that's just me and you all just need to trust me and go make a list to cross things off of and enjoy the happiness high it gives you.
I started making my bed daily 8 years ago and I felt a huge difference in how I carried myself throughout the day. I felt organized, productive, and happier. Even if I did nothing else that day, I made my bed and that was something. I never have a day where I feel like I did nothing because guess what, I made my bed.

At the end of the day when I'm doing my nightly routine, I am riveted by the fact that I get to go snuggle into a freshly made bed. There is something about getting into a made bed at the end of the day. The sheets are crisp, the pillows are fluffed, and I am snuggled in there.

Tomorrow morning, wake up and make your bed right away. Do this for a week, then a month, then maybe 8 years. I swear it is an instant dose of serotonin in the morning, and don't we all need that?
